Spring at last

As everyone who lives in a cold (really cold) climate knows, spring is hard won and the first beautiful spring day is something to be celebrated. Apparently Sonia knew it was going to be a gorgeous day and, naturally wanting to get a jump on it, woke up at 5:30 am. Yeah, well. We took a long walk, broke out Sonia`s wheels and took a spin around the deck and then went for ice cream. She rewarded us with a 3 hour nap and, later, a song and dance marathon. And if you`re thinking ``I think she`s looking different`.`You``re right - she does. Less baby, more little girl. So bittersweet.

Health update

Sonia is thriving. She gets the occasional cold, but, so far, has escaped some of the particularly nasty bugs that have gone through her day care. We recently visited her ENT (ears nose throat doctor) and audiologist. Good news! Her inner ear is working. This means she`s a good candidate for a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aide). The next step is the CT scan (CAT scan) to see the inner workings of her ear and determine the thickness of her skull. We hope that we`ll be able to schedule the procedure (for the BAHA) soon. Once she gets the BAHA, she`ll have perfect hearing. If only it that would mean   perfect listening.

I`m warning you...

Lately, when I suggest it`s time for bed Sonia says ``cry``. I ask her if she`s going to cry when she goes night night. `yuh`` She doesn`t always keep her word, but I consider myself warned.

Beth and Lily both wore these and they continue to be one of the most adorable things a toddler can wear. Sonia thinks so too.

Visiting the Martinsons

 Earlier this month we made the trip west to visit our dear friends Sue, Jeff & George. We got lucky with traffic and even luckier with the weather that Friday - temps in the upper teens (that`s celsius for my U.S. friends!). The best part of the trip was seeing our kids play together. George was so patient with Sonia; sharing his toys and his room. She repaid him by breaking most of his crayons and keeping him up throughout the night. Sigh. Oh, and, yes, we fully intend to embarrass them with these pictures in the future. Its pay-back for Sonia, anwyay, for taking my driver`s licence out of my purse, LAUGHING at the picture and trotting it around the waiting room at the hospital today.

A bit of sunshine for a dreary winter

     The two of us took a quick (Sat thru Wed) trip to Florida to visit my family. We had a blast. Sonia loves to fly. She was so excited to have her own seat. She looked out the window the whole time we were taking off and when we were at cruising altitude, she looked at me and made the sign for `more`. When we got to the airport and saw Zsa Zsa and Papa (after midnight because of flight delay) she reached her arms up to give my mom (Zsa Zsa) a hug.

She had so much fun with her cousins. And they were great with her...

 Bubbles, cousins, grandparents and cookies. Life is good.
